At Cowens, we’ve always believed in looking out for one another – in business, in life and in our community. That’s why we wanted to share something close to our hearts.
On Saturday 13th September 2025, a group of us from the Cowens team (David Carroll, Hayley Hutchinson, Lorna Dalby, Stefanie Cockroft, Toby Chaplin, and David’s wife, Lauren Carroll) will be taking on the Maggie’s Edale Skyline Challenge; a full-day, 12-mile hike through the rugged, rolling beauty of the Peak District.
It’s not for the faint-hearted. The route includes steep ascents, exposed ridges and miles of moorland terrain. But we’re ready to take it on together, in support of a cause that means a lot to us: Maggie’s, the cancer support charity.
Why Maggie’s?
Cancer touches so many lives – directly and indirectly. For those navigating a diagnosis, the road ahead can be overwhelming. That’s where Maggie’s comes in.
Maggie’s has centres across the UK, offering free, practical and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer. Whether it’s advice on managing treatment, help with work or finances, or just a safe space to talk, Maggie’s creates a calming, welcoming environment where nobody has to go through it alone.
For many, it’s a lifeline at the most difficult time in their lives.
Their work deeply resonates with us, not only because of the professional care they provide, but because of the compassionate, people-first ethos they embody – something we value strongly at Cowens.
Taking On the Challenge
The Edale Skyline Challenge is more than just a charity hike – it’s a real test of endurance and teamwork. The route takes in some of the Peak District’s most iconic landmarks, including Mam Tor, Lose Hill and Kinder Scout. It’s beautiful but demanding, and we know it’ll push us out of our comfort zones.
But every aching step will serve a greater purpose. We’re walking to raise awareness and funds so that Maggie’s can continue offering their life-changing support to those who need it most.
How You Can Help
