The Value of Using a Financial Planner

With the internet at our fingertips and ‘free’ advice widely available, it poses the questions ‘why would I pay for financial planning advice’ and ‘what value can a financial planner add?’

Cowens Financial Planning are well established working with business owners, helping them work towards their goals, as well as those they have helped retire whilst keeping their financial plan on track to safeguard their future.

The people we work with are well versed in making important decisions daily and are capable of managing their business finances along with their personal affairs. Still, they choose to work with us, and we wanted to share some reasons why this decision was made.

The Assumption

The common assumption of a financial planner is they are here to take your money and invest it for you while advising you in more complex areas such as retirement, tax and income planning.

Now, we do not disagree with this. We do provide these services and offer more value as well.

How?

You have your expert acting as a sounding board for any decisions you may have to make. Your financial planner can take an impartial look at things and is not influenced by emotions or distractions you may have.

You have your expert acting as a sounding board for any decisions you may have to make. Your financial planner can take an impartial look at things and is not influenced by emotions or distractions you may have.

You have access to the Cowens knowledge bank! With decades of experience across the team, we use this to keep your finances as efficient and as robust as they can be, whilst saving you valuable time and energy in researching matters.

Everyone is on a financial journey whether that is planned for or faced daily. Along the way, many things can derail a ‘smooth ride’, such as doubts, temptations, emotions and distractions. Some of these things can lead to your plan failing or wealth destruction, as well as causing stress and worry for you and your family.

Cowens Financial Planning will hold your hand throughout your journey whilst looking out for you. You have worked hard to be where you are, so having someone in your corner working with you makes sense to ensure it is not put at risk.

We know and appreciate as a business owner, there are not enough hours in the day! We simplify this part of your life, acting as your ‘personal finance director’, removing stress and saving your time.

Precious Time

You cannot put a price on time. You can use this how you wish, be it spent on your business or time with family or friends (or maybe on the golf course!).

So we accept you can spend hours scouring the internet for an obscure answer about recent changes to the pension annual allowance, or what tax benefits there are to investing into ISAs or pensions and dealing with the paperwork that comes with anything you decide to do. But our question is – do you want to?

We found that our clients have better and more enjoyable things to do in their spare time.

Is this you?
