As we celebrate our long-standing staff members and their journeys with us here at Cowens, this month we hear from Lisa Kessler – who joined the business in 1984 and is our longest-serving employee.
“When it came to finding the right path after school, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I was pointed in the direction of Cowens by my school’s careers office and I’ve been here ever since!
“The Company was looking for a Receptionist and I was actually brought on board by Bob Cowen and Slav Kutcha, who founded the business. They both played a huge part in the development of my career – Slav was a real mentor to me and after two years, he helped me with the training I needed to move from reception to the Client Accounts department, where I work now.
“There have been countless changes throughout the years with the introduction of technology and the evolution of business, but the team spirit and supportive nature of Cowens as a business, has always remained the same. I met my husband at the Company and my son, Matthew, is now a Trainee Risk Assessor here. My youngest son, Oliver (18), is due to start working for the financial services side of the business in January 2019 as well. I can’t praise Cowens enough for the flexibility and support they’ve shown throughout my life.
“The business has sponsored NVQs and various courses for me over the 34 years I have been with them, but I have always been keen to gain the AAT qualification to complement the work I do. Cowens has kindly funded my Level 3 accountancy exam and I hope to go on to study for Level 4 – it’s great to have something to work towards.
“The team at Cowens has seen me and my family through marriage, children, illnesses and more – it’s more like a family to me.”
